Map fetaures
« on: June 09, 2012, 08:13:02 PM »
What if some libraries could be pushed to open secret passages? Of course, not each library would act like a secret door, there would be two different types, maybe the secret door would have a darker color, or the player could just guess there is one because the map is incomplete.
The move-able library can be pushed to make a path toward the secret room, or maybe destroyed or open like doors.

Maybe the Wizard and Ranger can not push it normally and need to use a book or wand to push it (cant remember the wand´s name), since the Warrior have more strength he would be able to move it freely.

Maybe some breakable walls can be added as well, as secret rooms.

Lamp posts instead of braziers
« Reply #2 on: June 25, 2012, 11:06:24 AM »
Why don't we add lamp posts as a new feature of dweller in its new version? Probably because lamp posts could function as braziers but the fact is you still need to be aligned with it in order for it to still light unlike the lamp posts you can leave it ( still lighting ) without aligning yourself to it..

You mean a lightsource one can carry with him and place it on demand?
Coz braziers remain lit all the time, you don't have to stand next to them.

Portable lightsources should be easy to implement, but I wonder how useful they are?

Try using a Potion of Clairvoyance at the Halls of the Goblin King, and You'll know why.
Even a Warrior can severly harm or kill the GK from outside his range with Wands, hehe.

Adding "hidden" cage doors could be interesting in hallways - step into a room full of monsters, or in to cavern of lava and the door drops in behind you.

Some feature items to add to maps that inter-act like the lava.
Tangle vines -green areas - reduces speed by 20% when in.
Rock fall/debris -stone areas - reduces speed by 20% when in.
Foggy area - reduces chance to hit , 20% melee, 40% magical/range.

new traps - you need to increase chances of being slow -almost never happens - but also add potion of cure to restore speed so we do not have to go back up top every time.
Poison ivy -Maze -low chance of poison, but add it to lots of it to the halls unavoidable.
"Flowing sand" -in the sandy areas -Living sand gets in your cloths -you are slowed.
"Creeping Gravel" -Stone Area- living rocks get in your boots -you are slowed.
"Falling roof" -acts like spikes -damages when you pass under it.

@ZiZNaK: I don't know if add mini games is a good idea... Add achievements such as "Tales of maj'eyal" to unlock dungeon branches is a better idea, for me...

Yeah I was just throwing that out there.  I like the idea of having to unlock certain areas though some how.  Achievements is a cool way to implement this.  Or maybe have special keys held by certain bosses that allow entry?  Congrats on the translation role!

I like sewerdweller's ideas. How about this for a trap/monster/feature?
Antlion: it's a small pit, so movement stops or drastically slows while character scrambles out. Anyone in the pit will be attacked by the antlion. Maybe it will emerge, but thats an extra graphic and not entirely necessary. At least, a slow effect accompanied by damage from the beastie, and the nest remains, can't be disarmed.
