So when I go down there is a pretty small (fits on one screen) area to explore in the first level of the dungeon. However, it's completely enclosed in walls. I did explore more of this level previously after being teleported by a trap. But now that it is depleted there doesn't appear to be any way to play any further.

EDIT: Nevermind. It turns out there was a secret door behind a locked door in an empty 1 tile room that looked pointless.
