No direct Android download?
« on: December 15, 2013, 05:13:23 AM »
I have an Android phone, but I don't use Google Play.
How about an apk to download directly?

It would be a nice idea, I would have some motivation to create graphic mods.

There are many ways to download APKs from Google Play without actually using Google Play: https://www.google.se/search?q=download+apk+from+google+play

The newest version (sometimes Beta-of-a-Beta, which isn't yet available
on Google Play, like the one with new UI added recently) is always at:
http://files.dwellergame.com/beta/
Just look for the file called: DwellerAndroidApplication-release.apk,
download it to your phone and install (might need to get a file browser
and change some options on the handset, just ask Google how to run
APK file on your phone).
If you remember the sprites from my avatar, know that you're awesome!

I did just download the latest beta .apk but the new UI does not react at all to my touch.

Also it is way too small for using it on a phone. The buttons are 3mm. You should keep the old UI for mobiles.

Since the PlayStore Version does crash for me and the beta is not working I would liked to have the old apk versions for download so I could try which one of them was the one I had earlier which worked back then.

1) Is there a download path or can you upload the old apk?

2) Is there a way to install the Java files on Android to get them working there? Then I could just try them.

IMHO this beta is a kind of alpha version, which is made not for fun, but for bugcatching.
Answers:
1. Try to talk with Bjorn on mail. We are not allowed to upload it anywhere w/o Bjorn permission.
2. There is something called Google. You just need to type 'converting j2me to android' (w/o quotes) and click enter. Eventually you can search for j2me emulator for android. Both methods are viable.

Got it working but the Emulator makes Dweller so small it's unplayable. Also there is no sound, which might be related to the old download versions are very old and it seems it has not been updated as the last versions have been released.

Old apk somewhere available?
« Reply #7 on: February 26, 2014, 10:44:25 AM »
Anyone still got an apk of some of the last versions?
The actual version does crash for me and since my former version did work I asked the programmer for old apk but I get no answer.
Can anybody help me get this working again? Do you have an apk of an older version than the actual one?

In J2ME version there is no sound. Old cell phone devices has got 256 KB - 2 MB of RAM, so there is no place for any sounds...

OK, thought they were the same.
So the versions are not playable.

Any way to get old Android versions for testing?

I'm pretty sure I replied to your e-mail. I don't have older versions readily available. I could grab an old version from my source code versioning system, but it's a manual process. I might start putting the apk on files.dwellergame.com just like I do with betas. I'll post here if this happens.

Thanks. Preferably I would like to have an actual version without crashes but this would help greatly, since Dweller is one of the best of its kind on android.

Thanks for your efforts!

Thanks. I hope to get back to a stable publicly available release soon. I think the current beta is pretty stable and works well.
