General information about translations
« on: August 10, 2012, 12:02:05 AM »
Dweller uses an online tool to handle the original English texts and the translated texts. The tool is called Gengo.String and it can be found here:

If you would like to help out with translations to an existing language or if you'd like to translate Dweller into a new language please request access to the online tool and make a post here.

Once you have been approved as a translator you can jump right in and start translating. From the dashboard view simply click on the language you want to translate to:

The main view when translating shows the English master language in a column on the left and on the right you see the translated texts. Simply click on a text to start editing it (don't forget to click Save once you're done translating a text!):

You can also filter the list to only show missing translations or texts where the English master copy has changed. Some of the texts contain replacement tokens that get replaced at run-time with the proper text. Some examples:

ITEM_DAGGER = "@0Dagger@1". Here @0 gets replaced with any prefix that the dagger might have (eg Knightly, Slow, Deadly) and @1 gets replaced with any item suffix the dagger might have (eg of Fire, of Poison)

PLAYER_STANDINGON = "You're standing on @0". Here @0 gets replaced with the name of the terrain the player is standing on (eg water, open door, chest)
