Gengo, the online translation tool is shutting down
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:33:10 AM »
Gengo, the online translation tool that I've used for Dweller will shut down it's service on the 31st of August. This is a shame since the service was good and free. The alternative services Gengo suggest migrating to are too expensive for a free game such as Dweller. I will look into alternatives, probably opting for an offline tool. I'll let you know.

I hope that non-translators will be allowed to download XML files like from Gengo. I am not translator, but I helped Mateusz with making monster descriptions better thanks to Gengo file.
YOLO! Trying to do low-level challenge.

Did they really do it? :( Also, is the paid gengo a one-time payment? How much does it cost?

This is most unfortunate.

You could still make the files shared (with edit rights)
on Google Drive (replaced old Google Docs), it would
just be much less convenient to use.
If you remember the sprites from my avatar, know that you're awesome!

Makes sense. +1 Dagger of Fire for you :).

But it seems that I can edit the thing, still... No?

Was any workaround found?

I would like to take back the Italian translation project that I sort of abandoned since earlier this year (I moved and I have been a long time without a PC at home).

Google documents seems a good idea to get started again!

Google Docs is one idea, heck, even editing a pure XML could work if it's in a Git repository...
