1.22.14 Feedback
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:24:05 AM »
Attack Speed on weapons displays the text labels instead of proper
strings, so it reads:

"ACTIONSPEED_FAST (80%)" instead of "Fast", etc. in all languages.

Looking thru the files packed into the .jar, I've noticed that Items.png
is missing the Quicksilver Blade, unlike the file uploaded under /db.
Dunno what would happen if the player was to find one - propably
will be "invisible" because of the blank tile.

EDIT:
That was from 1.22.13

Still finding stuff like "Deadly Crossbow" adding Fire damage
even tho there's no mention of it (suffix).

Renamed the thread to 1.22.14 since the 1.22.13 happened
to be so short-lived.

Celestial Armor of Jordan and Golden Shield of Balance give
Mana now, even tho they're unusable for a Wizard. Also,
there is quite a lot of items which can give Mana to Warrior
and Ranger - providing them with a Mana bar - does it mean
that those other classes will have some way of spending it?

Btw, Mana doesn't show in Character screen at all, only in
character portrait window when using large tiles or during
sharing character stats.

Still on subject of Mana - why does it have to be randomised
on items? Prismatic band - sure, this one has all the stats
randomised like that, but why suddenly reintroduce random
stat for other items? Also, +1/+2 is negligible, it's like fraction
of a stat point, why bother? Maybe just drop a point in like
Defence or another to have full +3 Mana on Elven Cloak and
similar items? Another thing - if Moonstone Circlet gives Mana,
why not add some to Moonstone Pendant too?

I love the difference between "Utility" and "Power", regarding
Wizard's Hat vs Moonstone Circlet! Maybe this could be slightly
extended to having Elven Robe give more Mana than Wizard's
Robes, so that's "Sustain" vs "Power"?

I've noticed that Bookshelves can now be destroyed - is that
intentional? It startled me a bit when they suddenly began
dissapearing around my enemies and allies for no apparent
reason. With doors one can at least see the rubble.

All in all - really liking the changes!
Will be back after some more tests.
 ;)

Yes, mana on other items than the average wizard gear could be a first step towards opening up for abilities for the ranger and warrior. Internally Mana isn't referred to as mana but as the more generic term Energy. I'm thinking that both the warrior and ranger could have/find/learn abilities similar to spells. Anyway, more on that later.

I've added Mana to the character screen for the next release.

Regarding small variations in stats on some items: Why not? I know that 1 point here and there doesn't matter that much, but I'm thinking that maybe it's useless on a stat such as mana or hp. On other stats +-1 point has a larger impact. Also, on the main four stats variation in stats also mean different prefix and a bit of flavor.

Yes, bookshelves can be destroyed, but I can't recall when I made this change. As you point out there really should be some kind of debris graphics when they are destroyed.

Just a small suggestion in the meantime - how about changing the
Mana/Energy icon which currently looks like a blue stat potion into
the blue orb which is already provided in the items.png file?

True, I'll change that for the next version.
