1.22.8 Feedback
« on: October 03, 2012, 08:12:25 PM »
- Found a Fine Quiver of Elven arrows. I guess these should
only be generated as basic un-enchanted items, just like the
regular quivers do.

EDIT:

- The game can't cope with adding +3 hitpoints at level up
when the player already has 97 or more. (A little experiment
of mine.) Also, when the HP caps are achieved with the help
of items, removing those items will drop the stat in question
below it original value (to max minus item's bonus). I know
this has been reported on the Lighthouse bug tracker thing,
but there was no mention of HPs, so I wanted to give it a try
seeing how they're the easiest stat to cap out.

- Just noticed a problem with new summong items' mechanics.
Till now, only trinket which generated charges was the Soul
stone. It recquired to be equipped in the trinket slot to gain
charges via kills. Now the summong items also gain charges
(when performing any action, as if "every turn") in simmilar
way and these too need to be equipped in order to charge
up as well. Shit part is that only one trinket can be actually
equipped, and sitting in the quickslot doesn't count for that
purpose. Moreover, changing the equipped trinket is also
problematic, because the "use" option refuses to work, it
mentions lacking the charges instead, so the player needs to
first remove the previous trinket from the trinket slot. (Doing
so, will also remove the previous trinket from quickslot, further
adding to frustration, this really needs a fix too.)

Sure it might be a part of "strategy" - choosing which item
will be recharging next, but the game doesn't give any kind
of explanation for that, leaving those unfamiliar with indepth
mechanics pretty confused.

EDIT2:

- When dropping an item down the staircase, the message
reads: "You drop the foo into Stairs down to @0. It is lost
forever!".This is because the @0 string token is already used
for the "Stairs down to..." part. Easiest way to fix that would
be removing the item disintegration when dropped on the
stairs down tile.

EDIT3:

- Missed my enemy with a weapon of draining and the drain
was still applied. Same for Slow. It might be because both of
these weapons are Great axes, and hits on "multiple enemies"
are treated in a different manner. With one-handed sword
adding Fire damage it properly skips the Fire part when the
attack misses. I'll have to do some research with different
kinds of additional on-hit effects on both single and multiple
target weapons.

EDIT4:
- Just reached 101 Defence on my Warrior, so I'm pretty certain
that the problems with caps on stats was fixed for everything
but Hit Points.

I wrote once this bug:
When you fall down a level because of a trap, it writes 2 times "You fall through a trap door."

The Cleric doesn't sell anything else, just consumeables. It would be great, if we would be in the "all" or "consumeables" cathegory after choosing "buy".
Absolutely not important, just saying. :)

Next time maybe I can write more. But I'm not sure. :)
(Mateusz writes everything down anyway. :) )

Added some more to the first post. I need to do some more
testing with on-hit effects with missed attacks.

Here's a current breakdown:

Single-target weapons:
Stun - not applied on missed attack
Poison - not applied on missed attack
Slow - ?
Drain - ?
Fire - not applied on missed attack
Knockback - not applied on missed attack
Disarm - not applied on missed attack

Multi-target weapons:
Stun - ?
Poison - applied on missed attack
Slow - applied on missed attack
Drain - applied on missed attack
Fire - applied on missed attack
Knockback - applied on missed attack
Disarm - ? (Dunno if Disarm can be rolled on anything but the Flail.)

EDIT:
Tested some more weapons. Seems like my theory is right.

EDIT2:
Added multihit poison, as expected, applied on missed attacks.

Oh, I just found one more!

When I pick up 11+ bones, it writes (with floating characters) still that 10/10.
It's not a problem, but if I kill 11+ rats, it doesn't write anything anymore.

(So maybe it should write 10/10 with the rats too, or nothing with more bones. But maybe the first one. :) )

I assumed it has to be like that (checking the number of Bones
each time it's modified), otherwise, it would still say 10/10 in
"quests" even if you dropped them all in the meantime and
was thus unable to complete the quest.

It sure is annoying tho. I guess it could just stop displaying
the message with 10+ but keep checking and display the
floating text again when the number drops below 10.

I'll fix most of what's been reported here. The tricky part is the multi-hit weapons applying effects on miss. I need to find a better solution to multi target attacks

Could you fix that too, that I kill all the time my poor cat with multi-hit weapon?
(I shouldn't hurt the summoned allies. The charmed allies are fine, they will become enemies with time anyway, so if the get hurt, that's just fine.)

It's not a big problem. Maybe the warrior/dog would be fine with some hits, but the cat is really weak against my damages. :)

I've been running into some performance issues.  Seems like the gameplay is slowed down or choppy to me.  I've had this issue both just starting the game normally and as well as playing after optimizing(deleting) tasks and services.  I've noticed this happen before but lately it seems to have gotten almost unplayable... I'm tempted to push harder on the screen... we all know how that goes.

Here are my gripes with 1.22.8. Playing with SonyEricsson XPeria Mini 2nd. ed. (Android 2.3.6)
  • Full screen mode is lost when screen rotates
  • Equipping a wand or Thieves' Tools removes the last used wand from quickslot
  • Using a wand from quickslot also equips it, removing equipped Thieves' Tools
The latter two in combination are rather annoying when there are a lot of locked doors about. I have to constantly be in the inventory re-equipping wands and Thieves' Tools for the next task at hand.

Oh, and the first game I played with this version showed some interesting behaviour. There were not one, but two entries for gold and piles of bones in the inventory! Both bone piles were okay for the healer, but this meant I had to collect up to 19 piles before I had one stack with 10 to complete the bone collector quest. It fixed itself after some time though, but the two gold stacks persisted right up to the end. Both gold piles also collected more gold as game went on, but only one appeared to get used to pay for bought goods. Not that I'd have run out of gold anyway, there's still plenty of it if you comb through every level and sell all the loot. No duplicate stacks in further games though, so I guess this resulted somehow from the fact this game was started with 1.22.6 and upgraded twice.

It also tells how well programmed the game is that it was completely playable all the way, never crashing despite having those totally unexpected duplicate item stacks.

Yes, sorry 'bout that. This was caused by a switch of item category for gold and bones. I thought it would work out of the box, but save games started in older versions were affected.

I'll have a look at the feedback about wands and the quickslots

Idk how I missd this one:
Gold reads "you can not use this item."
While logical (can't "use" it), It sounds strange.

Same here - I have to wait a solid second or so between each key press and the resulting action, which makes the game pretty much unplayable. A shame, since it looks amazing! I'll keep it installed hoping for improvement in future updates.

I'm running version 1.22.8 on an Asus TF700T tablet, Android version 4.1.1

Gold actualy CAN be enchanted, generating a completely unusable
1 gold. Repeating the process over and over on a gold pile creates
multiple stacks of worthless 1 gold in inventory.

My last symbian bug-report:

It should write, how much damage did I get. Just to make me more sad. :)

So, from now on, I'm going to enjoy the android version. Dweller was the first game what I downloaded, and I really-really like it for now. :)
