1.22.5 Feedback
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:08:30 AM »
- Quest counters got severly broken. At first they don't show a
thing, then they all appear at once with every kill or item pickup.
Bonecolector willl be showing 0/10 when its 10/10.
- Purple Oozes now have 100% chance to drop piles of bones.
- The Captured Warrior will take the FIRST item of the kind he
wants, to satisfy his quests. This means he will take th equipped
Godly Swift Leather Armor over a plain unequipped one. Same
for Shortsword and Buckler. I even suspected he might do that, lol.
- Summoned Warrior will instantly rage (failed charm) and revert
to neutral, becoming just a plain wandering NPC not an ally.
- Pressure plates aren't removed from this room:
http://files.dwellergame.com/mapper/?tilesheet=http://files.dwellergame.com/db/world.png&tw=24&th=24&mw=7&mh=7&mapdata=35,35,35,35,35,35,35,32,32,32,32,32,32,35,32,35,35,35,113,32,35,116,51,51,51,51,26,35,32,35,113,35,35,32,35,32,32,32,32,32,32,35,35,35,35,35,35,35,35,
- It seems as there are no random named artifacts being created
right now. Highly enchanted items will not turn to "named" ones
even after reaching incredible stats and having burn/drain etc.
- Pearlescent Soul Stone will say it uses 49 charges at enchant
even tho it uses all 50. This is by the way incredibly powerfull
with only 50 charges needed per use and when found early
(like it was in my case) it can be used way too many times as the
game unfolds. One can easily abuse Ratling Elders, Oozes and
other "monster generators" to pump this item and enchant all
the equipped items into oblivion. Right now I got myself a Godly
Indestructible Prismatic Band which already has 3/6/3/4 and will
try to see when the enchant chance reaches 0 for it. Even if it
does at some point, this is just one of many items I can upgrade
to the point of nonsense.
- The Soul Stone should skip its "get one charge" message. For
now its similar message window spam as the Calvin's Imagination
used to produce.

I really love the idea of items accumulating charges and only being
usable when full - this leads to some very interesting future items.
If the charges were gained every step, this could effectively double
as "cooldowns" on certain items. Say, such cooldown would be
really nice on Dog Whistle, Magical Atlas, Magical Catnip, Hell Cloak
etc. assuring these items aren't so spammable anymore.

Excellent feedback as always!

Quest counters
I've fixed quest counters... my bad...

Purple oozes dropping bones
I think this is a suitable drop for a monster that merge with other lesser creatures. The remains should only be a bunch of bones.

Warrior turning hostile
Fixed

Pressureplates
Removed

No random name to enchanted items
Intentional. Named artifacts can be found in the dungeon, but a regular item can never be given a name all of a sudden. It can get a lot of prefixes to show it's potency, but it can never acquire an artifact name.

Pearlescent Soul Stone
I've increased the charges needed to 100 and removed the spam message.

Release due in a n hour or so.

Hey, I'm only halfway thru the game! Why so hasty...
 :P

Hope I don't find any other errors. Anyway, there's another
couple things related to 1.22.5 before I move on to the next
release:
- Did You fix the Warrior's "take first item of its kind" thing?
- Haven't seen any random named artifacts at all, think it might
be that the treshold for attaining "named" status is just never
reached since godly-something items can have really incredible
stat bonuses (about +15 total above items' base stats before
the enchanting fails every time for regular items). Even items
with burn/slow/drain etc. aren't generated as named.
- Living Armors are awesome idea and their trigger mechanism
is very original, but they lack in power. First of all, they should
have even more exceptional defence and massive magic resist
(right now they got none!).

As always, I'll add more stuff as I go deeper into the dungeons.

Mhmm, to be honest idk if Soulstone having enchant is
fair with how it affects all other items in players' possesion.
I mean - not finding it would have impossibly bigger impact
on the players' stats then skipping any other artifact.

Couldn't it have like massive heal when charged, or summon
Wraiths, or maybe a powerfull nether spell? This would fit
nicely to the item's theme.

Better yet, maybe make it a reward for Bonecollector? This
fits really nicely as well. It would recquire the quest to be
somewhat more difficult tho, and not repeatable. Or maybe
add this to the Minotaur? Right now his axe is mostly an
artifact to grab some cash for.

Anyway, just wanted to point out how different the game
becomes depending on whether the player gets the Soulstone
or not, with its current mechanics.

Thank you for the feedback. I guess the Pearlescent Soul Stone is too overpowered. It was created based on a discussion about the availability of SoE being to low. I should probably change the "on.use" effect to something else as you suggest and then add an expensive means of enchanting stuff via a vendor on the surface or by adding some kind of disenchant ability that can extract the magical powers of one item and turn them into an enchant on another.

Anyway, all of this has to wait two weeks :-( I'm off to Greece in a few hours!

Yeah, I guess having an expensive Enchanter vendor would
provide the much desired money-sink, while not disturbing
the balance too much (if the enchant is say 10k, the player
can only try a couple times per game).

But most of all, clear your head of all of it right now and go
enjoy your vacations! Have a nice trip and don't let Dweller
haunt you while swimming, sunbathing and visiting!
