This was always the case. It's because the item gets created
under the player's feet - whether he opens the chest by just
standing on it and executing default action for this scenario
by pressing the center/5/confirm or opening an adjanced one
via inspect/open, it's still the same thing for item's placement.

So it's not a bug or anything, just the way this "give item when
triggered" thing works. Same applies for bookshelves as well,
they don't simply drop a book in front of them but it will get
created beneath the player, even if one approaches the shelf
from the side or some diagonal direction.

You'll find this "open via inspect" thing quite usefull if there's
an item that got dropped onto a closed chest. You can then
open the chest without going on top of it (thus don't need to
first pick up the item that covers it). This is very common when
monsters are spawned in "treasure rooms" or "vaults" filled
with chests.

Like the sewers, and the new walls. Only one bummer tho: I was expecting a second level or a big monster. Looking forward to locked doors and keys too.
