How to "compile" the text files.
« on: August 13, 2012, 01:06:53 PM »
How do I "compile" (I know its propably not the best term, but I hope
you get the point) xml text files from Gengo into a .bin file that Dweller
uses? There's a lot of grammar problems and no way to check how the
translation will look like ingame "on the fly". I'd like to rebuild the .jar
using corrected language file, but dunno how to convert it into a .bin.

Aha, that's not done without a little bit of Java code. The export from Gengo is in an XML format called Java properties format. I have a separate processing step when I build the Dweller app that parse the XML and convert it into .bin file. You would need the  .bin generator code and run it yourself, but it's not trivial unless you're at least slightly familiar with Java and how to compile Java code.

But you mention something that I may have to look into. It would be good if at least the J2SE version could load the properties XML files directly instead of having to rely on the .bin files. I will have to look into that. In the meantime I have no problem making a build whenever you ask for it. It's a fully automated process that even upload the new build to dwellergame.com

Mhmm, if its automatic, I'd love some kind of a site that would
do all that via script on demand (button) and spit out a working
.jar file to try out the changes.
 ;)

As for now I'll settle with asking for a new build, please.

#necrophi I know this is old, but we need a solution for this. I suggest
adding explore mode to Dweller (at least) or Wizard mode (even better),
with a wand of wishing or something, so we could recreate some in-game
situations. Not only for translating purposes, but also for general debug.
(wizmode=debugmode if anyone wonders)

There is a debug mode with a nice cheat console, easily available
in the J2ME version. Check your private messages inbox.
