1.20.2 Feedback
« on: July 21, 2012, 03:11:02 PM »
New version, time for the new list!
;)

So far I've stumbled upon problems with Wraiths failing to slow
but instead causing a non-fatal null pointer error. Dunno whether
its related to problems which followed, or maybe they had some
other cause, but what also happened is that opening character
screen or trying to mail the stats, would result in the very same
error. Enemy casters using certain spells also started to bring up
this error, so I guess its all connected somehow.

I've sent the dump file via mail.

P.S. All this was propably caused by one error leading to a whole
lot of mishaps with enemy abilities and character screen. In other
following games, everything worked fine.

Another two, this time both are easy to reproduce
with every game:
- Scrolls which need a target (Teleport, Heal) can be
cast any number of times before consuming the scroll
provided the player doesn't quit targeting mode.
- Other one is not exactly a bug but a consequence of
how the Portal works: It instantly kills any non-player
creature that enters it. This leads to some interesting
behaviour considering that both Minotaur and the Lich
King are generated near a Portal. Smart player can
simply use a wand of Displacement or a weapon with
Knockback to instantly kill those enemies!

EDIT:
- Crossbows deal two hits at once.
- Small typo with enemy spellcasters, it says "x burn y"
instead of "burns".
- Charmed Goblin Shamans never attempt to use heal.
I guess same could apply to Charmed Trolls but didn't
have the time to try yet.
- There's something odd with Forest sometimes showing
tiles which should be beyond FoV, like so:

I'm sorry for the crappy screenshot.. call me lazy... I should really find that screenshot prog and throw it on this kindle as well but I haven't yet.  A friend of mine handed me a kindle the other day and asked me if I could alter it so it runs games and stuff.  Well of course eventually I just had to see how dweller played on it.  I grabbed the latest dweller apk from my phone and put it on the kindle and it runs great.  It's def playable but it doesn't seem to "scale up" to fit the screen it's in.  You can see that the directional buttons and quickslots are rather small.  I do really get a kick out of the fact that you can see almost the whole map though!!

I tried changing to large tiles but it has absolutely no effect.  Is anybody else running this on a regular tablet?  Is there anything else maybe I can test while I have this kindle?  Let me know!!
When in doubt.  Scroll of Recall

You seem very skinny ZiZ.
 ;)

As for todays bugs:
- Even if the attack is dodged, on-hit effects from weapons like poison
or burning with fire are still applied nonetheless.

Some comments:

* The "unlimited scroll as long as targeting mode is active" bug will be solved in 1.20.5 (as a side note: Scrolls of Healing will be removed)
* Regarding Portals: This was the easy way out for me. I could have done something fancy and displaced monsters in some other way. Hmm, maybe I should simply teleport the monster to some other place in the dungeon?
* Crossbows: Missile weapons usually only deal damage via the effects on the ammo used. A normal Quiver has a damage effect. Poisoned arrows have a poison effect. The bow or crossbow can also have an effect that is applied when the arrow hits. Crossbows do a lot of damage and they add an additional damage effect when the arrow hits.
* On-hit effects on single target attacks will not be applied if the initial attack is missed.

I guess teleporting them away would be a good solution, thanks for looking into this.

Thanks for clearing it up. I guess Crossbows should have much much higher
(as in way worse) Attack Speed then. You've got to re-load a damn crossbow
after all, and it usually takes a while.

Yep, in 1.20.5 monster will be teleported instead when pushed into a portal.

The weight of a crossbow will be changed from 9 to 12 (140 to 170% attack speed)
